I recently grenaded my lower unit 1.75:1 TM. Buy a new 1.75:1 TM and lose 3 mph (with a lose of 200ish RPMs) to the best of my knowledge this the only thing that has changed. I do know that with new curved skeg it drives a lot easier. My question is, has anyone else experienced this and could something have happened to the motor when the gears locked up and killed the motor like a lawn mower hitting water main. A very violent and destructive occasion.

Forgot to mention that I have a hyd. jack plate and prior to all this it ran the fastest when the gauge was on 13 and now it runs better with it on 10. I know none of this makes sense. Like Bo Pilgrim said about boneless chicken "It's a mind boggling thing".
