How many of y'all use cameras to record your fishing? Not specific types of cameras, just cameras in general?

Do any of you use your cell phone to record your fishing?

Just curious if it works well or is a pain?

I've recorded a few outings. The hard part about recording is paying attention to battery life and memory card usage. You have to remember to replace batteries every few hours and memory cards every 3-4 hours (depending on the camera of course). There are options for longer battery life and more memory but at additional costs.

Using a cell phone would work. However, I would be more afraid of something happening to my phone than I would to an action camera. It would be cheaper for me to replace an action camera than my phone.

I bought one and don't even use it. Too much trouble. Think I'll put it on Trading Post

I use one that I have mounted on my windshield. I just turn it on and let it run until the battery goes dead. Really no trouble and you tend to forget its there.

I ran usb power to my console. Only hassle is changing the sd card if it records too long.

Interesting. They have a mini-USB port on them don't they? Couldn't you use an Aukey battery to keep it going all day long?

I don't use mine as much as I did when I first got it.The main reason is that it takes forever to download and edit on my cpu.
Get a roll bar mount for your rear seat post and film a run up the lake. You'll be amazed at how much we bounce around, even on water we consider calm. Answers a lot of questions about why your worn out at the end of the day.

Works great with some preparation. Get a high capacity chip, power to your boat battery, and record all day. I run two GoPro's for every trip and forget they are there. Generally you get 8+ hours of footage from each camera.

I have the Hero Session 4. I bought a boat pole from Lock N Haul that extends to 8 ft that fits in the rear pedestal seat receptor. Really get some nice video. The Session 4 is reasonable and can be controlled with your phone or a remote. Haven't had sd card issues. I just download and clear the card, after every trip.

I am wanting one for when I take my boys fishing. Would love to record their excitement of catching fish.

I love documenting my trips! It is a headache to remember to attach and detach your gopro when youre moving or to change out batteries or memory. Mine doesn't have an indicator other than a small battery symbol on the front screen if my battery is getting low so it's tough to see without leaning on the cowling and looking at it. I'm usually fishing with 1 or 2 other guys so that position allows me to film all of us.

I like to use it during tournaments, recording its fun and trouble free. The problem comes when you want to edit the video (you must edit), it is a pain
