Can someone recommend a good anchor for deep water windy days? Something that will hold a 21' bass boat in position in wind and waves.

I don't even attempt to use an anchor anymore since I got my Minn Kota Terrova iPilot. It holds my boat in place at least as well as an anchor and it much more convenient.

Just buy a cheap one ,cause sooner or later it will get hung up and you will loose it.

Not if you rig it right. You get a nice big wing anchor, tie the rope to the bottom of it, then take a heavy heavy duty zip tie (like the police handcuff style) and run it through the eye of the anchor and zip tie the rope to it. This way it stays in the up position when anchoring and let's it grab properly. Should it get hung up, you reverse your boat and it breaks the zip tie and pulls the anchor up from the bottom up and will get it unstuck every time.

Thanks for that tip, Clark3 - sounds like an excellent plan. I think I remember seeing some with a bottom hole I can do that with.

a spike type anchor like this with plenty of good rope. these may be the ones with the wings the earlier guy mentioned

WARNING! You can get yo boat durty with onna these!

Swing on a long line all over a hump or point etc. I use it at the end of the day when my trolling batteries are drained fighting wind. You can use the last juice in your trolling motor to pin yourself on a spot against the anchor.
