Read the link provided above. It says each angler on the team receives a $5,000 scholarship.

ETBU signed a deal with Skeeter, so the boats are provided. In addition, all expenses will be paid for at each tournament: jerseys, travel expenses including fuel, hotels, etc. Great program for those students. ETBU is doing it right. Won't be long until they have a solid fishing team with this kind of backing from the school and companies like Skeeter Boats.

So since there is now "letter of intent" signings does this mean fishing is now being regulated by the NCAA?
If so how will this affect students being given anything for free?

I said letter of intent. Using that phrase from when others sign other athletic scholarships. May not be the correct wording used on my part. He did in fact sign an agreement to become a member of the fishing team at ETBU in which he gets $5000 per year to attend ETBU. Fishing is not an NCAA sport so, no, it is not regulated by them.

Glad to see the kids involved in the outdoors have some college assistance like the stick and ball sports.
