Any tips on Lake Buchanan, been fishing Lake LBJ a lot lately and wanting to change it up. Looking to put in by the mouth of the river and stay on north end of lake.

thanks

Just watched Texas Fishing & Hunting with Clark Wendlandt and he was on Buchanan. He caught them on isolated brush on top water all day. Bigger ones came a deep patch of brush.

If you are fishing the north end try cedar point, granite point, silver creek anywhere you find rock and flooded willows. I'd start off with a black buzz bait then switch to a tx rig and pitch to the flooded green willows in 4 to 8 fow. It was working Monday. I keep thinking a spinnerbait on theses windy days we have had latley but tx still has done better.

Went out yesterday, Fished from 7:00 till around 2:00 We started out throwing buzzbaits and topwater spook close to river, water was murky, had a few fish in that area but nothing to keep our interest there. Went down and fished Silver creek looking for some clearer water, caught several dinks on spinnerbaits and mixed in a large profile square bill. Caught 1 fish worth mentioning on square bill, 8 lbs. Didn't throw any plastics just trying to cover some water but found a few areas where ill probably slow down and fish some plastics if I can get back out there in next week or 2.

What plastics are you throwing tx rigged, Do you fish out there often?

That was what peaked my interested to go fish Buchanan again, I love a good topwater bite. Found a few fish on topwater but I think he was in the main lake due to the water clarity that was on the show, what I found in the upper section of the lake was much murkier. Most of my fish came on spinner bait and square bill.

i used to fish it almost everyday but the last year or so I've been mostly fly fishing the river. I like to fish the dirty water but rocky point , red rock, and flag island are good spots to hit for the topwater bite in the clearer water. The colors I like are junebug in the stained and watermelon with some blue in the clear.
