A friend told me he used to drive on pad to Cade lake on Palestine, but forgot how to do it bc it's been many years. Is this true? I've always idled to the opening usually around the west side of the island. I've always rolled over a stumps or two so I'm not sure how it's possible. Maybe I'm taking the wrong route? Thanks for the insight.

I've never seen anyone run that far on pad, but I'm sure there are some that can. I have seen boats stay on pad from the power line all the way passed the big island and shut down to idle up the river or go left heading to Cade's. They were all hugging the east bank starting at the launch ramp at the power lines. I would never try it not even in a free boat. Seen too many t-post and big stumps. Coach

In my mud boat- sure. Never lift off the throttle.
In my bass boat.....not so much.

Yea those guys you see making that run are gonna end up on the news one day. The path is about a boat width wide and has zero room for error. There are fence posts, rocks, and MASSIVE stumps in that lane, all of which are just under the surface at the current level.

Like with most runs on Palestine, just take your time, live to fish another day.

The stump/hazard danger will go up by 1000x when the water is back at pool or lower. Lots of runs can be made right now with the water a little high. There are guys that can make that run but it is dangerous. The run to the back of flat is just as bad but I see guys doing it. I think you can hug the east side and be okay until you get to the last point before the big island. I would not run past that. I hit stumps in my prodrive around that island and it's riding a lot higher in the water column than my skeeter.

100's of old jeep trails all over that lake. Seen people run places I would not consider, they must be made out of brass and the size of cantaloupes.

Lake Palestine is a very dangerous lake to run.it doesn't matter if you turn left or right coming out of the Villages. Yesterday, while fishing the Media East, I saw three very lucky bass boats running through timber. they were lucky the lake was high. One was running down the middle of the lake out in front of Caney, the second ran across the lake north of the 155 bridge between saline and cobb. also some people evidently don't know about the big trees out in front of the villages if you go straight out and turn left.
if you don't know a lake, before you get on it, get a reliable map, study it. especially these East Texas Lakes.

It takes all kinds. I care too much for my equipment and life to take that chance. Just takes one oops to end the day.

Agreed.
Ruined two props in one day on Lake O the Pines.

Hardest dang stumps I've ever seen.

My first time on Palestine we launched form the Villages and ran on pad all the way into kickapoo. I believe there are still pucker marks in that fellas passenger seat and indentions on the "oh shoot" handle I had a death grip on. roflmao Palestine is, IMO, the most dangerous lake to run in Northeast Texas.
