I have 1978 Johnson 85 horse with power tilt and trim I need to replace the power trim motor it seems like I have to remove the motor
to get the power tilt and trim unit out so I can replace it. does any body have experience doing thisnand know any tips or trick theyt would like to share thanks

You do have to remove the port transom mount.You need to support the motor with a hoist. Requires disconnecting the steering link, remove the 2 port side motor mount bolts, remove the bolts holding the trim unit on that side and slide the mount off over the steering rod. Then you can get to everything.
