Best advice would be to take your boat head two hours east and fish for hybrids on Tawakoni. You can even enjoy a trip to Buc-ee's on the way there and on the way back.

That lake has angered many fisherman. It makes people doubt their ability to catch fish. Could only imagine what it is like when it's 8+ high. Don't worry about looking for birds either, schooling activity is very short lived on top. Try shallow points early and move to the deeper points and humps later in the day. When it does produce it is really good just doesn't produce enough. After saying all that I will be back out there again.

You can launch from the marina still.

Caught huge hybrids last 13 yrs. get a lake map and scan all humps if you mark fish slab them up. They youst to be 20' humps couldn't tell you with water levels this year. Lake is small. you can lazy fish, troll a crank or rattle trap till you find them, kick off a marker bouy. And stay on top of them.

I live 15 min from Benbrook and have some success, but it is not an easy fishing lake. As small as it is, you'd think it would be easy. I'm make the drive to Tawakoni for the first time Saturday morning.

Thanks for all the advise! Greatly appreciated!! Didn't get to go Thursday due to late work hrs but will definitely be out next week. I live 10 mins from Benbrook as well and being so close, I'm gonna put some work in and try and figure it out. May take a few trips but I have plenty of patience... We'll see!

Sounds like Lake Georgetown down here in Central Texas. Every time you think you have it figured out it changes.
