I was chunking a spinnerbait in flooded willows this evening catching a few small largemouths. The cove I was in, just came alive with sandbass. It was the 1st cove when you hit the timber north of Wolfe island. Tons of small sandies but I started casting past them and letting a #3 mepps spinner sink and the big ones were under the small fish. I probably caught 20 keepers as the sun was setting.

LOTS of birds working out there Saturday as well. Sand bass population is alive and well at Roberts!

See you on the lake and have a great day!

Big Kid, Looking at a map, I think it's actually the mouth of Wolfe Creek. I went again last night and about an hour before dark they started chasing bait again and we caught several. The catch ratio favored the small fish. Only 3 or 4 keepers out of about 20-25 fish. (I do release almost everything I catch tho) I didn't catch any large mouth last night either. Caught sandbass on #2 & #3 Mepps spinners.

I'm catching them on the right hand side as you go in. I started at the flooded willows on the cove side of the main lake point. Follow the bank around and you will see a fairly large opening in the timber before you get to the back of the little pocket. The sandbass have been chasing bait in that open area. 10-17 feet of water but you can see them when they're active.

Hey Rudy, Got my grandson (3 1/2 years old) coming up this weekend and slabs really work well with him in the boat.... That's good to know you found some deeper. I'll do some looking around Saturday for some deeper fish too.
