Whats the best all around length for a crappie rod to use for dock shooting, vertical jigging, casting crankbaits and jigs, etc. Just an all purpose crappie rod

Don't believe there is one. There will be plenty of suggestions, but when you include shooting docks with the rest, you'll have to compromise on most everything. For one rod to do all this, I'd look at the 6.5 ft Pro angler. Otherwise, look for a med light or med action 7 ft.

I would say a 6-7 ft rod would be a good all around crappie rod length.

I prefer 5.6 and 9+. I usually fish from a kayak or the bank.

+1

I am really liking my Pro Angler 6.5'ers, but I use/preffer his 4.5'ers for dock shooting.

Ed at Pro Angler Tackle "recently released" 5'5" rod and it is a very versatile rod and can handle big fish.

It is the rod we won LOP with....

Excellent all around rod and shoots very well.

I would stay under 7 foot, that has some backbone. The most fun rod I have is a 5 ft. UL and all of the fish feel like 4 pounders.

I love my 5'6" UL Fenwick HMX...I also use a 12' crappie pole and a 20' Black Widow...the rod I use depends on the surroundings...My favorite is the Ultra Light with 4# test. I've landed a 26" hybrid, 15# buffalo, lots of crappie, catfish, bream and gasper goos on it...

Fly tier (yeah, I can fly fish...but the fish don't like frothy water!)

I use a 7 footer for everything except dock shooting and fishing under bridges. I use a 5.5 for dock shooting and either a 5.5 or 6 footer for fishing under bridges. I do use a 9 footer when I need a long reach but this is not very often. A 6.5 or 7 footer would be the best general use rod.

I second what Ken said. There is no single rod that will do it all.
I would suggest a 5'6"-6' light action for docks and bridges(when the water is up) and a 9' jig rod for BPs and timber. My 2cents

I use a 10'. Rod and Flip it also a 4' to pitch if I really need to get way under I use a1/8 oz. jig head it works pretty well , but you have to find what your comfortable with, and adapt to your skill set to that particular rod/reel setup.

I am no expert, but I am a bit of tackle ho .
I have crappie rods from 4.5 to 10 ft. For dock shooting or casting of any sort , I like the
New 5.5 from pro angler. For any vertical presentation , I love the 8 ft pro angler.
I have rods that cost a lot more , a 7 ft st croix And a 9 ft g- rod, I can't see they are any Better
Than the pro angler.

If I were starting over with limited funds , I would get one 5.5 and as many 8 ft pro anglers as my budget allowed.
