So I took the kids and brother in law out Sunday night and kept 39.. we threw back well over a hundred. Today I went out at 10am to the same spot and thougth I was going to catch them on every pass and nothing. I ended up catching 3-4 just down wind of that spot but nothing like the other day. it was very windy today as well. I did see some schools around on side scan and threw a rattle trap at them. Caught one keeper on another spot with a rattle trap but nothing else. Do they all head out deeper after they spawn? I assume they are still spawning and in the area.. Was it that I went out at 10am and they where done feeding until the evening bite which is when I caught all those the other day.... Just my rambling thoughts but interested in hearing yours.

The last few weeks they seem to be in the top of the water column and actively feeding on days with light wind and high humidity or on days that evening storms are blowing in. Then on days with bright sun and drier air they are tight to the bottom and may or may not bite well. The typical summer pattern is when we see them surface feed the last few and first few hours of the day. During the summer a cloudy cooler day can have top water action on and off all day long and are some of my favorite days.

Cloudy day usually means lower air pressure, and sandbass will be more likely to actively feed at the surface and in shallower water. In part, they're responding to the weather, and in part to the changed baitfish behavior (influenced by the weather).

Clear blue skies usually means higher pressure. Sandbass are less active and usually deeper.

These are not hard & fast 100% rules, but it's pretty consistent over time.

Was out from 930 to noon today. Found them along north shore across from lakepark in 25-35 fow...ok bite. Moved to west end of dam in same depth, it was on. Around 100 with a half dozen small hybrids.

Don't dwell to long if your not getting bit at a certain spot. Had fish along north shore but they didn't seem to interested...moved on.

Idk what equipment your running but I have 25-35 fow shaded on my maps now. Changes depending what time of year. Only fishing those depths right now...humps, ridges, etc. Sometimes they're in the middle, today they were deeper.

By doing this you can cut down your search area to next to nothing.

IMO this is what makes fishing enjoyable. Every day is different. This is one reason I never invite someone fishing and tell them they are really biting. Although they have consistently been in 20' of water lately.

We caught quite a few fish yesterday that are still full of eggs and milt. We are catching fish from 1 to 8ft early and then sliding off to 15 to 24ft as it gets a little later. Points, humps and steep slopes seem to hold fish most of the day.

lots of fish hanging out in the cuts right now. all three are holding fish. nothign of any real size though. threw back over a hundred on Sunday evening and I bet only 25-30 were of legal size. Did catch a few under hybrids also. also the first point on the south east side of the little elm bridge is holding fish. sit the boat in 9-10 FOW and they will be on both sides of that point.

Good group of guys on Lewisville. You ask for this on say, tawakoni or RC...you get the "there are no fish" story. Good stuff.

The way I see it is that we all have more fun catching fish. Just dont keep the dang hybrids for dinner please. I do some internet scouting from time to time myself so i dont mind sharing when I can provide some meaningful insight.

Thanks for all your thoughts gentleman. I'm going to try to remember these on the water. I think you have helped me figure out some things. I'll post my success when it happens. Really wish I was out on the water this morning.
