Just got a new boat and need to move my transducer over to it. It's a Champion but the bottom is shaped a little different than my last boat. Putting on the HD transducer for an humminbird 899. Where do I need to place it to get the best results? I plan on using a stern saver transducer mount.

ON the transom just below the right side engine mount bolts with the transducer hanging down below the transom in the step space. Use a shoot-thru XP 9 20 transducer for depth/2D sonar and connect the two transducers to the display with the AS SIDB Y cable. That is the PROPER installation for that hull type like this edited picture I did for someone:
Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N and G4N, 1198c SI, SOLIX 10 SI G3, Helix 8 MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 12 SI and G3, MEGA 360, MEGA LIVE TL, RC-1

Got it mounted there and works like a charm. Now have to look into a shoot thru transducer and will pay someone to mount that one.
