Good Afternoon All, I wanted to take a minute to show the importance of using electronics in fishing. As a kid when we got a lot of rain my dad never wanted to go fishing, I have come to realize that was probably because he was not sure where the fish had gone. Here on Sabine Lake we have been inundated with rain, but it has not hurt the fishing(if you know where to go) one bit. The flounder have started to move into the lake and were biting well, then we received about 6inches of rain in 2 days. I really wanted to fish and with my work schedule I have to fishing when I can, not when the weather allows, therefore I setout to catch some flounder. As I prepped for my trip and loaded my waders and kayak, I knew the fish would not be far from where they had been they would just need a deeper hole to stay in the salt. That is where my Navionics phone app came into play. For any of you that my not have used this app it is amazing. I was able to study the area and determine where I wanted to fish before I finished eating my bacon and eggs. The contour detail on this app helped me determine the subtle dips in the contour that I thought would help hold the fish near to their previous location. I called my buddy that was to accompany me in this adventure and we headed out. A short boat ride later we were dumping the yaks in the water to paddle back to were I had predetermined the fish may be. Did not take long before my partner hooked up with a nice "saddle blanket". This action did not stop till we had filled our limit in just an hour or so. What a great day of fishing and I attribute it all to being able to look at the bottom contour with the Navionics Phone App while eating breakfast in my kitchen.

Nice sack of flounder there. I'm trying to fish the Sabine this weekend. I live in Fort Worth, so I gotta figure out where to go.
