 12 ft jon boat

Me and my buddy have fixed up a 12 ft jon boat and was wondering how it would handle on a lake around 1200 acres. thought I would ask to see what other people thought before i drove a hour to get there and then the lake be to big to get around on.

Really depends on the wind. I've had my 12 foot jon boat on Tawakoni on a calm day with no issues. I've had it on the small 400 acre lake at our weekend place in 20mph wind and couldn't get off of the water fast enough. As long as it's a calm day or you can stay out of the wind you'll be fine. Regardless make sure you wear your PFD and have throwable flotation devices and all required safety gear.

I've done a lot of fishing from a small 10' jon on large lakes. But remain aware of you surroundings and weather conditions.

I started out with a 12' Jon Boat on Toledo Bend, and never had any problems. You just have to pay attention to the weather, other boaters, and don't get too far away from your launch area if you need to get back in an emergency.

I am alone and have take 14ft Jon boat for myself. Though it's really depends on you which size will you take. But I much appreciate for 14 ft.
