Boys and Girls,

I plan an annual guys BBQ road trip starting in Dallas and heading south. It's always in November and has to be then for various reasons. We've been doing it for 6 or 7 years and the last 4 we've chartered a fishing trip the next day. Twice in Corpus area and twice in Galveston. 3 of the 4 fishing charter trips have been largely failures. One year in Galveston we caught a lot of big reds. That was the only success. Other 3 years we basically went to Kroger on the way home to be able to eat. Since I'm the organizer, I get the blame (mostly in a joking way, but, you know, it still hurts deep down). My inclination after last year was just to axe the fishing part, but on reflection, that seems the cowardly way out.

So my question: Is there a lake in Texas (south Texas preferably due to weather) that I should focus on rather than trying to gulf fish in the cold water of November. Would be a huge bonus if it was a lake with waterfront cabin rentals.

Any help at reviving my manhood would be tremendously appreciated.

If you want to salt water fish in November, I would consider fishing with guides on either Sabine Lake or Calcasieu Lake. This would be inshore fishing in shallow water for reds, specks, and flounder. You will catch fish! Also, I would ask this question in the salt water section instead of freshwater if that's what you want to fish for. If fresh is what you want, check Toledo Bend or Sam Rayburn...November is usually a great month.

We catch boatloads of Channel and Blue Catfish at Richland Chambers in the Winter months. RC is located between DFW and Houston and is the 3rd largest lake in the State. Easy fishing for novices and good eating! We have fished RC since 1994 and cater to Families, Groups and folks just wanting to catch a lot of fish. We work out of Fisherman's Point Marina and they have a Lodge that sleeps 10, and small Cabins that sleep 3/4. They have a link on our site @ www.gonefishin.biz. Check us out and give us a call if we can be of service.

Thanks,
