Wanted to get a ballpark estimate on how much Hydraulic steering would cost to add on? In the market for a new boat and a few of them don't have hydraulic steering but its a big reason we are upgrading. Does anyone know what it would cost to buy and install on a 200HP+?
Anything helps!

TeleFlex is THE name in hydraulic steering. The basic BayStar system will only work on a motor up to 150 HP. So with a 200+HP you will need the SeaStar system. Cabelas lists the system for about $1200. Installation, well if you do it, just blood, sweat, and tears. If the shop does it, hour by hour cost.

Either way - YES you definitely want the SeaStar system on the boat it is MUCH more pleasurable to operate!!

Get the Sea Star Pro Series it has a more powerfull helm pump. I bought my kit from Black Bear Sporting Goods for around $950. I called around and several service centers would install the kit. However I couldnt warrant $600 for an install. Iam pretty mechanically inclined so I did it myself in 3.5 hours it works great.
