I'm looking for a flat bottom boat in the 1000$ range. Preferably 12'36" or 14'36" with a small outboard to get me around the coves and rivers. I've checked craigslist and most of them are to pricey or been customized way to much. Just need boat, motor, and title.
Maybe somebody on here knows a guy.
Some help to keep me and my buddy fishing would be great.

I know where there's a flat bottomed boat but I think it's a 10'. My neighbor bought a bigger one and as a row boat with electric motor that he's wanting to get rid of for about $600. Send me a note i you're interested.

I would urge you to look for a 44 or 48 inch wide boat. The 32's are like a canoe and the 36's are little better.

The wider the better honestly. I think it would fit in the bed of my truck on the wheel wells. If not I'm sure I could find a small trailer for cheap.

There were several really good buys in the dallas area listed on the THF classifieds a few months ago. May be worth your time to dig them up as I don't know if they sold.

As far as fitting a flat bottom in the back of the P/U, do what I used to do. Get 2 to 4 treated 2x4s. Stretch them across the top of your bed & cut a 2x2 for pegs to drop in slots if you have them. Actually, I did that for the middle one only, so I could remove it fast or put it in just as fast. On the one by the cab, use 2. One will lie flat & turn the other edge wise & screw it to the flat one. This keeps the boat from sliding back to the cab or back glass. I used galvanized 5/16" or 3/8" coarse thread carriage bolts (1 on each side, plus flat washer, lockwasher & nut). Once it is mounted you can use it to tie the hold down ropes. For the back one (by the tailgate), you only need one 2x4 (best to use treated so it will last longer). If needed when not hauling the boat, you can unscrew one bolt on one side & swing the board inwards or outwards. And then return once done. The good thing is that wood is less damaging to the aluminum than the steel bed of your truck.

And you can haul your boat bottom side up, unless of course, you need it to handle (filled with a lot of gear). If so, then you can face it bottom side dawn. You can also find something that can be used as padding.

One last item. Always make sure you carry a red flag of some sort, with a short cord to tie on the end. If you don't, you could get a ticket. And it would not be a bad idea to have an extra, just in case the other blows off.

I would strongly advise a V bottom, and Wide as possible. Love this boat.. and it can get anywhere, as long as the Wind is not over 15mph. someday I will get a Merc 9.9 but this 5hp does great

Be careful in the quest for a 9.9. If you get one of the newer 4 strokes they weigh a lot. I have had trouble with the transoms on a few different jon boats cracking with a newer 4 stroke on them.

Gee whizz...I guess I'm not the only guy desperate for a little boat. My problem is I only have a mini van to pull it with. It has a v6 but still have to find a small boat. I do okay from the bank but I want to learn to drift or drag, however you say it. My price is about the same too, around $1000. Not much to work with but it's what I have. In 8 years of searching I have found fishing to be the best therapy for PTSD. The VA should buy me a boat and keep their pills. lol

look at Academy sports, or bass pro, maybe Cabelas, they have a 15 foot for $1100 and trailer for about $500 to $1600, great little boats, some paddles and off u go, save up and then get ya a motor. just my 2 pennies, then u getting new too.

Look for a Coleman Crawdad. It was a great small water boat. Wish I had never sold mine.
