The reason common carp were introduced to North America was at the time it was among the most valuable of species. Even today, second only to tilapia as a source of high quality protein for a very hungry world. There are no worthless fish.

In many countries the common carp is among the most sought after of sport fish, with fishermen paying princely sums for access and having equipment that just absolutely eclipses the best a bass fisherman might have.

In Texas the common carp has become such an important species that in some fisheries it is protected with a size and creel limit.

The common carp has the widest distribution across the planet of any freshwater fish and is among the highest evolved of all fish species.

Among non-natives in Texas waters would include such things as the florida strain largemouth bass, the walleye, the sauger, the hybrid striped bass, the coppernoe bluegill, the rainbow trout, among many others commonly considered sport fish. I s'pose we need to kill 'em all.

This post is no surprise from a bowkiller with an agenda to keep his blood sport legal. While bowfishing is STILL legal in Texas, the tides are changing. People are getting educated about carp, buffalo and gar and they are tired of seeing wanton waste just so someone can target practice on a living creature for fun. Do I think that common carp can get over populated on some water bodies, sure. But blaming them for turbid water and eating game fish eggs is ignorant. They don't eat anymore fish eggs than catfish, bluegills and crawfish. Why do the best bass lakes in Texas, also hold the best trophy carp populations? Because they rely on each other to prosper. Common carp have been here in Texas water for over 100 years longer than Florida LMB, Stripers, Hybrids, Rainbow Trout..........

Bowfishing sucks

Just give the bow fisherman your adress and they can drop them off at your place. You and your buddy's could get together clean them nasty things and feed the hungry world. Maybe start up a trendy non profit? Might win a peace prize.

We just need a few billion more Cormorants to eat all these nasty carp and black bass. These Cormorants need to be genetically engineered to 4x their current size and trained to not eat catfish and crappie.
That is all I got:)

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

No No No.Not chemical poison. Let nature do it.
Haul in a half million crawdads each in the carp lakes.
They eat carp eggs, good fish eat the crawdads.
No consequences

Too late. The weak and incapable largemouth bass cannot stand a chance against the powerful and superior common carp.

Wait and see which takes over the world first.

Sarcasm? Or just being flippant? Either way we don't need our waters overrun by any invasive fish species. Look what snakeheads, walking cats and carp are doing to waters across the country because authorities didn't act quickly enough.

Yeah, I don't really worry about carp either way. Unless they're the big silver ones that smack you in the head.

At least black bass are good to eat. Carp are good only as cut bait and fertilizer.

Biden famously said in the New York Observer, โ€œI mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, thatโ€™s a storybook, man.โ€
