I have heard nothing but awesome stories about Lake Tawakoni. Me and a friend are heading that way Saturday morning on the hunt for some big Cats.
I was hoping some of you guys that fish there often could help us out with some tips.
Are they shallow? In Timber?
Is the best bet Drift fishing right now?
Are shad easy to cast net around the boat ramps in the mornings.
We have frozen shad and live perch.
The plan is to get into some big blues but we would love to catch numbers of box fish too.
What ramp would be best to put in at? We plan to fish from 6 AM to dark
Any and all help would be awesome.

While there is always a real possibility of catching a fish over 30 pounds� The likelihood is not as good as it was a couple months ago.

Try north of the 2mile bridge near timber in 3-8ft!

Tons of 2-10lb fish being caught tho.

Here's some food for thought;

I went on a recon mission Saturday since I was by myself. I just wanted to depart from the norm and hunt for some blues in places where I'd never fished them, hopefully to expand my bag of tricks a bit. Headed up into a little creek that still had some current to it, set up, and before I could bait all the rods I had one go down. In an hour and a half I put 15 fish in the cooler between 3-7lbs. No real big'uns, and only one channel in the bunch, but it was a steady bite. Then the creek got shaded by the sun beginning to set and the skeeters about carried me off so I headed out.

With the drier week we've had this week, not sure if that pattern would be as easy to duplicate, but I'd bet if you can find some moving water you'd find some blues feeding in it.
