OK folks, new to the ins and outs of Crappie fishing...
The Bass guys say fishing shuts off on Fork when the gates are open, creating current.
Does it affect Crappie the same way?

If it's a strong current, I would say yes but all the East Texas lakes right now are over full and have current. The bite has been fantastic the last couple weeks. I fish a power plant lake quite a bit which usually always has current but when they shut the units down and the current falls off then the bite falls off also. So, I'm thinking it's the drastic change from what they are accustom too that gives them the lockjaw.

I agree with Brush Hog. They have to be used to it by now. The gates have been open a lot the last year and change.

Well, I can tell you when the gates are open on Lavon, you may as well stay home.

My brother fishes Fork all the time.
He was down there this weekend and didn't catch any fish either.

I finally got to spent some tow yesterday on Fork.
Put in at 2946, water wasn't muddy, but it was very dirty
Didn't catch any fish in that area.
Headed to Birch, thinking the wind would be better there.
Not so!!!!
Hid on the east bank and fished lay downs between Birch and Oak, but could only catch 1-2 off each.
Ran half way down to the dam from the W 515 bridge, water was much better looking.
Eased up to a point, graphed a submerged treetop that was lit up.
Caught fish out of that tree till my back couldn't take any more banana
Just what I needed, some SOUL therapy thumb

I've fished Fork every time the gate has been open this year and have yet to notice a difference in the bite.
