DQ upheld, as it should have been.

Sucks for LC. I won't debate the rule or enforcement thereof. It's clearly stated and easy to adhere to, contrary to popular sentiment. As previously stated, I've had guys shut me down before I ever got to first base. I've seen several pros walk away from public areas where not overhearing dock talk was impossible.

Clausen, by his own admission, did not stop his 'local friend' from discussing information readily available to the public. Doesn't matter if he benefitted from the info or not. I suspect he did not. But he received info from someone other than a competitor within the 28 day no-info period. Cut. Dried.

The way it was said that Luke told the story it was a pretty easy choice.

Need to go to Bass Blaster and read K-Pink's take on all this. Very interesting to hear it unfiltered from a guy who's played the game.

Same with me Fouz. I know several of the Elite guys. I never call them while they're at an event. I do send a text saying great job after a good day. If there is ever any question they can pull up text records

So does this disqualify him from any future elite events?

Pretty bad deal, because everyone knows that info is being passed. Horsechit rule. They are fishing for their own money anyway.

After reading a few of his blogs from after retirement it's easy to see why he did it. He lays it out there that BASS is no longer for the anglers. He didn't like that BASS will do anything to make a buck and seems like he thinks all this drama might just be one of those ploys. I like how he speaks his mind on things and you can tell that BASS wouldn't let him do that before. Either it just built up or something happened but he has a sour taste for BASS and I don't think he is alone.

Thank you for mentioning it. Interesting take for sure. Two things stuck out at me:

1) He says what I was trying to explain in my post up thread about, somewhere in the back of Clausen's brain, something must have triggered that he was at least flirting with the rule, and that's why he failed the poly.

2) He lays out a scenario of visiting a buddy that lives on the lake the tournament is being held at and just seeing what's tied on his rods at his house could be considered breaking the no info rule. That's eye opening for me.

Tough situation and tough rule.

Also pretty interesting how many "traveling partners" show up on the list within a few places of each other. Seems to happen a lot.
How do these guys avoid seeing what their partner is rigging up with? Is that sharing info?

Those fishing in the tournament can get info from each other. They definitely work together in small groups. Very tough to make it out their with out some friends. They try to keep each other above the cut line to draw a check.

That is common and not against the rules. According to Skeet Reese, the only reason he won the Elite event at Guntersville last year was Bryron Velvick (his travel partner/BFF) telling him the exact swimbait to throw and where to throw it. (Velvick finished second).
