 Port A Fishing the Surf in the Spring

Does anyone know if fishing the surf for trout/redfish can be effective in May like it is in the June, July, or August around Port A? Are those fish cruising the shorelines then? In the event that the weather conditions are right, I may try to hit it up when I plan on going down in about a week.

We caught some nice fish the end of last May not a lot but quality fish... A lot of skipjack as well. 3/8 jig heads and gulp new penny shrimp.
