Hi- I have this fly rod and I was looking to learn more about it, as I am new to fly fishing.

Back Story: Over the summer I was blessed to go on a mission trip to Alaska, and while there we were demolishing an old house, and I found this Fly Rod, and took it home with me. My Youth Minister found in hilarious I got through TSA with it and took it on the plane (he wasn't much of a fisherman), and he died the other month unexpectedly, so in some odd way the rod now means alot to me.

Just wanted any info yall might have on it.

Brand: Hawthorne
Says "Tubular Glass" directly under Hawthorne

Neat story.

Can you post a close up of the rods label or tell us what it says?

That is a spinning rod. the first large guide and the reel seat position give it away as a spinning rod..

I have a crazy question,I have got a rather large grass carp in my sights. Been chasing it for 3 weeks, I know it's the same one, got a distinct marking on its side. I've thrown everything, doesn't even look at it even if I put it in front of its nose. What if I take my vise and make a fly out of rye grass on the spot. That's what it's mowing down. I just wanted a opinion.
