I have a lowrance Elite 7 HDI on the bow of my boat. The transducer that comes on the Xi5 doesn't support the down imaging of the Elite 7. Any issues with attaching a transducer to it? May be a dumb question, but it's how I learn.

That's a cleaner looking set up than mine, but that's what I did also. I'm running birds, but have the xi5.

Thanks Gonzz. thumb

One question - why all the coiled cable in the green covering (hose) wound just above the motor head? Does it prevent the unit from being stowed?

Really wish MG would find a solution for this.

Also, do you use the sidescan operation of the TM, or just the DI and Sonar?

Thanks again for the your input.

The coiled hose is for when the TM does a complete 360deg turn. It has enough slack in the cable. It works great. I use SS and DS on the TM all the time. It works great. I use the built in 2D also.

A 1/4 inch air line has a good coil to for this set up it worked great for me Of course My tans wire was taped to the outside of it..only thing you don't want to use to much it will bunch up and make it more difficult to stow the motor...they cost about 3.99 at tool store. It would be nice if you could get the trans wire on the inside though..

I got the 1/4" air hose and cut off a piece. I nailed each end to a board and cut it so I could get the trans wire inside it. Not sure what to do next. Someone mentioned a spring. Not sure what that is about. I need to look at it.

This is what I use.... I personally think it is the best. You can even use side scan if that is what you want to do.

This worked for me,I made the 1/4 inch air line to long at first and it made TM hard to lock up in stow position and I covered the yellow hose with blk tape.. Ater I shortened it and secured the ends it worked great I may modify it later ..I love the xi5 holds really well..Plenty good enough to fish brush piles.. I should have got one a long time ago..

The coil in the hose keeps it clear and allows for 360 steering

I used the mounting bracket for the TM, I cut the 1/4" air hose and cut it and my finger to get the cable inside it. I am going to use a retractable clothes line to keep the cable pulled back. I really like this TM!!! That remote from the back of that pontoon boat is priceless. Can't wait till the brush pile bite lights up. I bet I lost 20 jigs in the bushes today.

I ultimately gave up my Elite 7 when I installed my xi5, and instead replaced with a touch 9 using the built in... never looked back.
