I have a buddy that literally has about 35 rods, all just piled on top of each other in a single long locker that has no management whatsoever. He twists the line around the poles and tosses em in there. Each rod rigged with a different type of bait, he pulls out the rod to get the bait he wants.

no joke.

I removed the "engineered waste of rod box space system" from my Z521c. What a bear that was - you really have to want it out of there bad to do so. The mere 10 tubes were literally molded with a curve in them - horrible for rods. The entire area of the tubes was completely foamed in place. It took hours of hacking and cutting to get that mess out. I found a razor knife and multi-tool to be very helpful, along with a butcher knife taped to the end of a short broom handle. I had to go at it from the rod box as well as from the bow (where I removed the front panel for access). Using rod socks, I can now probably haul 40 rods in there if I wanted to.

Here's a photo of the tunnel of torture after cutting away a lot of the foam. The view is looking from inside the rod box forward to the bow. The light was placed via the removed bow panel access.

Took out the tubes and rack. I have 10-12 with Rod Socks and Reel covers.

Fitter I like the Tape with line info idea. I may be using that soon. thumb
