I've seen several 2-3 lbs hatchlings in the shallows. Probably female....

All the really big ones are female. However, they all had to grow up from the same basic egg.
Usually easy to tell apart from later winter through early summer, and typically the males are more aggressive and more easily caught. Hence the bulk of fish caught by number are males, and especially the larger percentage of smaller fish being male.
If in a fishery where the males and females are easily differentiated by body shape without having to make inspections of the vent, and at the appropriate time of year, a well studied fisherman can easily sort the fish accurately enough to get over 90%.
Plus, as any biologist worth his salt knows...if its on tv it has to be true, right?

I saw this and found it interesting because from what I know largemouth bass have the ability given the right conditions for survival can change sex from male to female or vice versa. So I would assume that maybe has nothing to do with a fish being born any certain way. Perhaps females feed more aggressively to put on enough weight for reproduction. Funny thread though! I liked the jokes and got some good laughs. But as for te transgender bass I found this article..... kinda scary... http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=112888785

But what if he identifies as a she? Assuming the lake is full of other racist bass, that fish must go into another cove or creek to take a dump until they change the laws. In the meantime, all transgender bass will cry and moan until all conventional bass accommodate them . Nailed it.
