I'm trying to get some fishing in this weekend and was wondering where a good spot for some channels would be. Would have to be somewhere not far from grapevine. I don't typically like lakes because I don't have a boat and I don't like ponds because there are normally screaming children or cars driving around. Just a nice, remote spot preferably with eating sized cats. Thanks!

Don't know how far "not far" is... but if you look on google earth, follow rowlett creek up into plano. Those creeks are small but hold lots of 8-14 inch channel cats. You might have to throw back 3 out of every 4 fish because they're too small but they are supper easy to catch. Small hook and a worm

Really going to depend on release rates. Denton creek where there is wood is good. Trinity where you can gain access. Ponds/canals in Las Colinas.

Under the bridge at old Hwy 121 in Lewisville. Elm Fork Trinity and walk upstream as far as you can if the water is not out of banks. Hoards of channel cats in there all moved up to spawn. Shad gizzards are the best bait but I have no clue where to buy them. Maybe some bait stores around Lewisville might still carry them. Otherwise use chicken livers.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

Where do you park? And just making sure is it the highway just south of lewisville lake?

That's the old highway. Pull off the hwy just before the bridge metal guard rail on north bound side and drive down along side the fence. There should be a worn path down to the river if the water is not out of banks. I used to be able to park under the bridge right there. Look it up on google earth and you can see where cars have been going in off the highway.

Here is a screen shot where you can see the vehicle path just below the highway.
