I bought two Siennas, and from almost day one the bails have been tough to close. I try to do by hand, but when I forget, they close 3/4 of the way ... I miss it ... and the line spools wrong, causing line tangle. Just a heads up.

I do like Jon said, but wrap electrical tape around the backing and spool with 6lb flouro.

I also have the opportunity to exchange it for a shimano sienna 2500 if that would be better. That would be better, IMO...

That reel will work perfect for that. Even with a 6'6 medium action pole? It's a ugly stick gx2 I'm still learning everything the pole was a gift and I'd like to not have to buy a new pole. Ultralight, light action...fast tip (if you can find one...

I always close the bails by hand out of habit...I normally limit my purchases to the SONORA level or higher...Never run into that issue on a Shimano, but I have on non-shimano reels...After a while of dealing its that particular issue, I trash them and go get another Stradic or Symetre. (My personal favorites). They will set you back in the pocket book, but 10 years from you will be thanking me...when you are still using it....

For Shimano 500 size reel, I go for Sahara. For reel size 1000 and up, go for Stradic or Symetre, with Xship design, the reel is smoother and stronger.

These big flat heads were caught with Sahara 500 and 6lb test line. One weighted over 30lb, and the other 29lb.
