Just bought my first yak, dont know wnen im free to go but im dying to get out there, any ideas?

If it's your first time on it. I recommend flat water as soon as the weather calms down. Get your paddling down. Then progress as your confidence grows.

Get yourself a good PFD and wear it. Get a whistle too. Both are required. Watch some videos about good paddling technique. An efficient stroke will make a lot of difference.

Swimming pool! Turn it over and practice getting back in. I did that with my 12 year old son and myself when we started.

This.

Once you mastered deep water re-entry, then you can paddle pretty much anywhere. Would help get you recommendations if you provided your general location.
