I have a pair of Oakley Flaks right now that are polarized. I was thinking about trying Costas but didn't know if it was worth the purchase and if I'd see a difference. Mainly fish ponds and small lakes.

If you want to try a pair without breaking the bank, check here often. They are a liquidator for many brands & inventory changes often. Oakley's, Kaenon & Costa were all available today. Not every frame - not every lens. But if you find something you like, you save tons. They liquidate fishing also, but only high end fly fishing gear. http://www.steepandcheap.com/sunglasses

^^ yeah that website mentioned helped me out last year! Didn't exactly get the frame "color" I wanted but I did get the sunglass "style" and "lens" color!! They were Costa glass so usually $260 and I paid like $155 brand new still in box and all. I've had 3 pairs of Costa's and really like them!

As far as comparing plastic polarized you won't see to much of a difference between Costa and Oakley. If you want glass then go Costa but expect to pay up.I've owned and sold both brands. I prefer oakley myself. I have a small head and most Costas still fit to tight for me. I would go somewhere that sells many brands and try a few on in different styles.Maui Jim,Wiley X, Amphibia,Spy all make good glasses. It's all preference with these products anymore.

I like the way my Oakleys fit but I guess the question is, is there a polarity upgrade? I want to get the best option for cutting through glare etc. If it's just a matter of switching out the lenses, I'll do that. Someone suggested "shallow blue", a google search didn't show those as an option though.

I've owned Oakleys, Kaenon, and the last year have been wearing Costa 580g green mirror. The glass is a little heavier, but the 580g Costas are far superior, imo, than other polarized glasses. The clarity is unreal!

I know a lot of people have their favorites. I have had Costas, Solar Bats, etc. on the expensive ones. One of the best one I have used that were polarized and good bedfishing glasses were Maui Jims. My partner has a pair of Bolle that he swears by. He also has a pair of Wiley X that really likes. Solar Bat is one of the only companies that makes a polarized yellow lens for cloudy days. I have a pair of them and two pairs of Berkleys that are yellow.
If money is an issue, Strike King makes some good pairs of polarized sunglasses on their upper end of glasses that are quality.

If you have a small head, why would most Costas fit too tightly? That seems backwards. If you check the Costa website, they provides size info for each frame. They are not one-size-fits-all. For instance, I wear only a size 7 1/8 hat, so a lot of Costas would be too large for me. I found that the Fathom frame is an excellent medium fit frame that works well for me. Each person will find that frames of a certain size work better for them. Start with the frame size info, not just how the glasses look as far as style.

Surprised no one has mentioned Smith. They have glass lenses that transition when light gets low. Works great for dawn and dusk.

If you are sight fishing, hard to beat the copper 580G from Costa.

I have amber Costas and green maui jims and prefer the maui's for everything. Best glasses I have ever wore for sight fishing. And they made me a great deal on repairing my glasses after my dog destroyed them.

Costa has yellow. Sunrise 580p. Great for wing shooting and clays, as well.

Don't know if you're still looking for a pair of glasses but SolarBat has great glasses at a great price. All made in the US and designed by an optometrist. Their Mossback green lens is perfect for bass fishing, since it highlights their skin color. I've got a pretty large head and finding glasses that fit properly and comfortably was difficult at times. I used to have Costas but would frequently get headaches from the radiation bleed. Since I've switched to SolarBat, I haven't had that issue. Go check out the frame and lens options at SolarBat Sunglasses, they'd be worth looking in to. And if you're a tournament fisherman, they have a great contingency program.
