Just curious what you guys use to stop sun fade on your engine cover and PP covers? I just put the RMP cowling cover on the end of February and it has already bleached out white. I don't have the luxury of keeping my rig indoors, so it sits in my driveway under a huge tree that protects it from the sun all but about 2hrs a day. Are there any products out there to recondition these covers and atleast slow down the sun damage? I feel like this cover should not have faded that quickly. Thanks

Maybe put a tarp over it when it's at your house? It's an extra step when you get home from a day on the water, but it will stop sun fade, I bet. It's probably too late for that cover, since it's already faded.

I don't know if it will work on that type of material, but I've had good luck with 303 UV protector. 303 UV Protectant

Thanks for the suggestion. Someone else messaged me and said 303 also. I think I'll try and find a black tarp so it doesn't look so out of place in my neighbor hood and strap it down. I was hoping there was some product I could use to restore color or at least give it some color. Sounds like I need to invent that and make millions Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Put a black 55 gallon drum trash bag over it when it is parked. That will also help keep dirt daubers out of you have any.

Just curious and not trying to be smart that'd be difficult for me, but...
I see these alot lately and I really dont understand the need for these covers to begin with. It would seem they would hold heat while running.
I do understand keeping the cowling from sun exposure and fading, as well the occasional bait rap and maybe even noise insulation while running. I agree with protection while not in use too. But, why pay all that money for a new shiny outboard then cover it up with a matte black cover? I suppose i am speaking of the ones you see on while the boat is in service. Again I am just curious not passing judgement
I wax mine fairly often or as often as the boat gets waxed and it still looks new

Mine is fading and the only time it sees the sun is when I'm fishing! Don't know that you can avoid it! I figured that. Like I said, it's out of the sun most of the day and the only time it is in the sun is first thing in the morning and late in the evening. The bulk of the day from 10-7 it's blocked by a tree. I do log 10hr trips every week on my day off though......so that can be a factor. I like the trash bag idea also. I'll give that a try with some 303. Thanks

I've seen lots of boat covers that also cover the motor, you could potentially get one of those... just a thought.
