I fish the Coastal Bend and would like to know what you guys use for a cell phone map app? I see Navionics and Fishidy mentioned, but they don't get really good reviews. Pocketnav is supposed to be good, but I can't find much out about it. Thanks.

I use navionics. It works for me. I just look at the contours to find humps, drops, creek beds and points on lakes before a trip.

Cant go wrong with the Navionics app, before you use the app on your phone, check out all of the mapping you would be capable of using on the Webapp for free before spending a dime. Be sure to zoom into areas and toggle the button in the bottom left corner to turn the sonar chart layer on. It is the layer that shows where users have recorded sonar logs and update the mapping, which makes the mapping stay more up to date without having to wait for sonar recordings boats to make the trip to you body of water.

Thanks, everyone. I looked at Navionics and the webapp link. I suspect that it will do everything I need(and much more). I am having a hard time figuring what is included in the free version of Navionics. Their website says you have to buy charts, then it says the USCG charts are downloadable free. Is there a good tutorial to teach us old dogs a few new tricks?

There are many youtube videos about the Navionics App. There is a trial version but you can spend 9.99 and get the complete version of the USA. The details on the app are great and simple to use.
