General consensus regarding owning a kayak which allows one to stand and fish. I know some fisherman standing is not a priority when fishing from a kayak. Others, especially if depending on their method of fishing, fly fisherman for example, must have a kayak which allows them to stand.

Having the ability to stand and fish a priority to you when selecting a kayak? Is there an advantage to have the ability to stand from your kayak?

I think absolutely. Standing a pitching is much easier and for me at least allows more accurate cast. Sight fishing you can see into the water better also being able to see into the water better allows you to see stumps or underwater cover you may have seen once it was too late if you were seated.

What Dale said plus I can stay many more hours in the yak when I get to stand and stretch every now and then.

Standing is a must for me. I fish standing 90% of the time. Casting is easier (I use conventional gear), hook sets are better, visibility is WAY better, and it just feels good to get out of the seat.

I like the fact I can stand and sight fish and basically see over grass beds in marsh areas to find the fish feeding without spooking them.
And to stretch on long outings if in deep water.

I have to stand most times im in my kayak. If for nothing else just for bait. After that i dont usually stand unless i gotta [censored]

I stood almost all the time from my Meyers Sportspal S-15, more stable I suspect than any kayak up to that same length. I really liked it. But, I added a high seat to the canoe's gunwale seats and it put my knees at a right angle which was plenty high for most things other than flipping and pitching or making long casts. Now, in a Propel 10, I rarely make long casts . . . I can just slide right up where I want to be. I do stand but more now to stretch my legs. The seat is so comfy that I rarely even need to stand up. But, yes for flipping and pitching: a big advantage.

I sure am impressed with the new Slayer Ultimate FX Propel 13 since it positions "feet below water line" for a lower center of mass. Odd looking, kind of creates that Tim Conway comedy skit short legs look. Ha!
