The catching is happening now on Lake Lewisville. Last time out the clicker read 203 when the day ended. Trouble is that 90% of the catch is under 10" for whites and under 18" for the hybrids. May I make a suggestion? The fish returned to the lake will have will have a much better chance of surviving if everyone will do just one thing. Please pinch the barbs down on your lures. Besides causing less trauma to the fish, it is much simpler to remove the hook from the fish. As a bonus, the hook comes out of your hand or arm easily if you happen to hook yourself. For you guys that enjoy fishing in the wind, enjoy yourself the rest of the week and be careful with storms in the area.

Slabs in the one ounce size seemed to work well. Lost the chrome castmaster and it was producing. Had to switch to a small chartreuse slab and kept catching. They are still hanging out in twenty feet of water.

I guess need to venture out of the old lake over here in Oak Point. Would launching at Tower bay get me closer to where sandbass typically are in Lewisville?

The best area in March and most of April was the Hickory Creek arm of the lake. Never got the boat in the main lake during that period. They have spread out now and seem to be everywhere. We ran into a huge school of whites on the east side of the lake near the golf course last time out.

Have to agree with Don. Most years I do pretty well in the Hickory Creek arm during March & April, just look for the usual structure (like windblown points). Late April into May is when I tend to find them on the main lake, along with the big hybrids.
Of course, I haven't been fishing much for the past two years due to school ... my boat is considering filing for a divorce.

Every lure on our boat has the barbs collapsed. Been doing it for years. Rarely do we lose a fish. Alot less damage to the fish on catch and release.

I launched at Tower Bay today and went to the cove just southeast of it. Caught 2 largemouth on a purple worm Texas rigged. Nothing hit my crankbaits, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits or rattle traps. I was in 6 feet of water at about 67 degrees.

don couldn't agree with you more. So much easier to remove and I really don't think I loose any more fish. Another thing I do is replace that awful treble hook with a single or at least cut off one of the three. I don't know why but it seems that the smaller the fish the more hooks they get in them.

So...Tower Bay is open? More rain on Friday. Anyone know the lake level that shuts down the ramp?
