So I ended up at lake Lewisville yesterday around noon and had all my carp gear with me and a friend. I put 2 poles out and he had one. Within a few hours we caught and released 17 common carp and 3 buffalo. They were all decent size averaging about 10 lbs with the biggest around 15 lbs. We had so much fun we planned to come back for a night session. We caught another 11 common carp and 4 nice buffalo. Grand daily total was 35 carp and buffalo. Having 2 rods out I caught more of them and smashed my old daily record of 12 carp in a day. Now 22 carp and buffalo in one day! We came back out today around noon and put in a few more hours. I caught 6 commons today and 2 buffalo. I had to complety rethink my tactics on the carp and buffalo in this lake. 80 percent of fish caught did not set off alarms or pull any line. I just kept watching as the line would slowly go tight then back to slack. I was very confused what was doing this. (usually a smll mudcat or turtle). So I started holding my pole in hand and as soon as I would see line go tight I would tug back and fish on! But you really had to time it just perfect. Once on they fought like CRAZY trying to stay deep as possible. They were all carp or buffalo doing this. It was great to get away from the turtles and mudcats that plague my local pond in denton. 90 percent of fish were caught on old canned corn. Boilies and hair rigs were not very effective. Just 2 kernals on tiny hook seemed to get the best results. Pack bait we soon realized was not needed as they would bite just as quick without it. The carp and buffs were jumping and rolling all day long! I uploaded a few pics of fish with strange scale patterns.

Awesome day Mike! flehan That tightening of the line then going slack is very typical of buffalo. They can do this for long periods of time without getting hooked. They are masters at it!
