New to the boards, but need some help guys.

I've got a trip planned with two buddies this Friday. It's the only day we could all get off and we've had it planned for 6-weeks.

Unfortunately, the forecast has 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms. These guys have never been to Fork and I'm not all that familiar either. I guess we can stay relatively close to a bridge and anchor down if it gets too bad, but we really want to bass fish.

Any advice?

If there is lightning, is it safe to fish under the bridge or do we head on in?

BTW- We will be in a rented boat that they drop off at the Lake Fork Marina at 8am and pick up at 5pm.

If it is lightning, it's not safe to be on the water. Under a bridge or otherwise.

Keep an eye on the radar, you should get decent phone service out there on most of the lake. Also, the cove right there that LFM is in holds some fish, if you have a storm moving in and dont wanna get far from shelter that might be a good place for ya.

Cloudy windy rainy days have been the best for me on my trips bud. Stay safe and watch the radar. Fish on Fork chew when the weather is a lil suspect.

X 2 , don't try it, it's not worth the risk.

If it was easy, everyone would do it

What little I know.... I would fish around Popes if the weather looks suspect.

I know six weeks sounds like a long time, but your life is not worth risking if there's lightning. If it's raining, have at it. Lightning within site or sound, get off the water!

Last year I took a friend out at Fork. Put in at Popes. Got on the water, idling out letting the motor warm up. Was almost to the boat lane when I saw lightning. I turned the boat around and my buddy said "what are you doing? We haven't even fished!" I said, "I don't mess with lightning". He wasn't happy...

We barely got the boat on the trailer and lightning was striking within 100 yards of us, it was literally raining lightning. He was glad, I did what I did.
