I look on here and see some beautiful paint jobs on lures and not sure if I can do something like that but want to give it a shot. I am wondering if there is a good air brush starter kit that any of you would recommend. And also, where do you guys get your blank lures from?
Thanks

I started with a NEO from Hobby Lobby. They have a 40% coupon all the time on just about anything in the store. Bought a small compressor on sale at Harbor Freight. That got me started. I bought blanks on eBay at first, as cheap as i could find. That gave me things to practice with. I think they were .$50 each for squarebills. I actually caught a few fish on those. Seems the quality blanks though are coming from Predator Bass Baits, Dinger Custom Baits, Get Bit Custom baits, Dakota Lakes Tackle. I watched a BUNCH of youtube videos on airbrushing--not just airbrushing baits. I've painted all my life, but airbrushing works exactly the opposite of what I have ingrained into my my mind--for a thick line, you back away from the paper, for thin line, close to it. That took some work to get down. And practice, practice, practice. Good luck to you. For what it's worth, I like using the wicked paints with the high performance reducer. Getting the paint reduced correctly was a major breakthrough for me.
