Ok how many of you guys actually practice flipping at home? I know I suck but never realised my skill was decent till I fished with some family that can't flip worth a flip lol. Just wondering, cause I been thinking about practicing at home.

I did for several years (both flipping and pitching) when I was first learning the technique from my uncles. They would use it as a tool to get me to get better by telling me if I wanted to go out I needed to practice and get better. This was back in the late 60's and early 70's, they took their fishing very seriously back then which also instilled it in me. Now it has become second nature and is my absolute favorite technique, and responsible for most of my biggest fish.

All the time. I set up a course of different ranges and go from right and left handed with different weights.
Thanks,

Pitching is essentially a controlled underhand cast where a lure develops speed as a rod is dropped and then lifted rapidly to swing the lure out to a target. The reel is allowed to free-spool and the lure takes line as it sails at a low-trajectory to a target entry point usually not far from the boat. Flipping is more up close and personal - like swinging a bait out to a spot with a stout pole held high. If line is fed to it, it's generally not much, and at a slower controlled speed. Flipping is often done around thick cover with heavy gear meant to hoist a fish back out of the hole the bait went into. Pitching can be done with almost any lure/tackle.
If someone is hitting a target 30 feet out, they're more likely to be pitching than flipping. Many confuse the mechanics of the two.

That's why I bought a house with a pool. Stand on the diving board drunk and aim at the kids with weights

When I first started out I used to flip for hours around my house. I watched a tape from Denny Brauer talking about flipping left handed and spent forever learning to flip that way. Now days I rarely flip right handed. I still have fun doing it just walking around my property flipping at everything I see and teasing the dogs.

Flipping is where you pull some line out and take that line in your hand and then swing your bait to the spot. It's up close and personal like previously said.
Pitching is where your line is tight, no slack, take your lure in hand, lower your rod tip and then let the lure fly by raising your rod tip. It's a under hand cast like previously said. YouTube it if you still don't follow.
