Fished one of our local lakes on Friday since we were off work for the parade.

I don't know what we were doing right, but we ended the trip with 6 channel cats in the box the smallest was 8 lbs and the largest weighed out 10 pounds even. The lake record is supposed to be 10 pounds, but they didn't have a scale in the office or anything. We called it good enough and went home. Had a blast fishing with my mom and dad. Other than the cats we caught 2 redfish, a tilapia a hybrid striper and a gar.

Thanks banker, we were fishing braunig. These fish were not spawning yet. We caught 3 males and 3 females. The females were all full of eggs. The males were fat as could be and no abrasions on skin/fins so I don't think they are spawning yet.

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

They sure were scrappy. Caught them all on medium size spinning rigs, they put up a good fight! Caught the one red on a Abu 7000/ProAngler and 30 lb mono, he didn't have much of a chance roflmao
