With all the rain and run off the Lakes have been dirty what are your go to bait colors? This is a topic that stumps me whether to throw black blue or chartreuse or whatever.

Either fluorescent orange or chartresuse spinnerbait blades, orange crankbaits, or black/blue jigs and soft plastics.

For me it's big size bait , dark colored .

Fire tiger is a great muddy water color.

Agree with the above. For slow moving presentations I like full size plastics in dark colors (adding rattles and scent can be a good idea). Black neon, black and blue sapphire are two of my favorites. For faster moving baits, the vibration and sound might be more important, but I like white and chartreuse and orange for faster moving baits in muddy water.

Spinner Bait: The "Chunkin Punkin"
- Dark Blades with heavy Copper glitter adding a little, orange, green and purple.
- Skirt is Living Rubber in a Dark dyed Yellow with layered section of drab red.
- Trailer is the Stanley Pro Trailer in Tomato/Blue Flake.

I run this bait dripping with Minnow Extract as the minnows and Shad are all in the shallows doing their thing right now.

Chatterbait: Same as above.

Square Bill: Very similar. A picture is up in the Lure Making Section.

Plastics as covered above.

I use anything green pumpkin or darker.

1/2oz black and blue MPack flipping jig with a black/blue xcite rapper tail chunk

I've seen these jigs and they are genius! I need to grab me a few.

My best muddy water baits are black plastics or a spinnerbait with a bright neon orange blade

Fished tons of dirty water back home in Louisiana and Black/Blue was always a good color for jigs.

Fishing an Oilman's Charity Tournament on Texoma a few weeks ago and we were fishing muddy water. I threw a black/blue jig for two days and never got bit. My buddy picked up a pumpkinseed looking senko and started catching fish. You couldn't see the darn thing if it was floating on the water.

Cut off my black/blue jig and switched to something that looked like it would blend in with the water and caught a fish on my second cast as well as several others afterwards.

I always had 4-5 rods/reels with every bait imaginable, and my dad would fish with the same white spinnerbait all day everyday when we fished muddy water in Louisiana. Rarely would I catch more fish than him. He wasn't even a bass fisherman.

Black and Blue

Black... Bill Dance had on one of his shows how well fish see in muddy water and it was surprising, something like 4 or 5 feet the scientist say...were looking at the dirt particles as the light reflects back to us, the fish are in the muddy water looking out and up where things are silhouetted against the sun lit sky...just something to think about...
