I cleaned an Okla limit this morning that was caught yesterday. Out of the 37 only 3 had eggs and they were only partial. None of the others showed any signs of spawning, It was impossible to tell if they were male or female. All were caught in about 2' of water. None had beat up tails.
It rained all last week and I was unable to fish, all of the lakes came up 2/4' and are now going back down. The week before I was catching them shallow and the females still had eggs but didn't look ready. None of the males had full milt sacks.

Can it happen that fast?

I am going back in the morning to do further research. Strictly in the name of science you understand.

I don't think they all spawn at the same time, but I do think there is a peak where a large number of them do. Say over a week maybe ten day period of time. JMO

Not sure but caught well over 80males today on hubbard in the shallows. I was wading and they were everywhere. In the cattails.flooded weeds etc but most of the larger ones came from the cattails. First time at this spot in 8 years and it didnt disappoint. Only caught a few females and they were spawned out.
