Around DFW is pretty broad...are you looking around North DFW, South? Fort Worth? Will you be on a boat or bank fishing? People in this section are willing to give tips but may need a bit more detail for it to really be helpful.

The google bank fishing map is probably your best resource. Its in the forum somewhere and I'll be trying to find it myself.

I'm actually looking for some good new spots myself. I'm in Frisco. I know lots of C&R spots but besides "Lake Lewisville" I dont know of any spots for keepin and eatin ...and I got a hankering.

Several Anglers who post here live and fish in the Dallas area. Hopefully some of them will respond. hmmm There are several great fishing lakes in the Dallas area which all should hold some nice Bluegill. thumb

Sunfish are plentiful in the DFW lakes, but none of them hold really big bluegill. Exactly why this is true I am not sure. An 8 inch fish is large for this area. I suspect both fishing pressure and water pollution are factors.

Good eating-sized fish are found in Lake Arlington, Joe Pool, And Lake Ray Hubbard. In general the farther East you go the bigger the bluegill. If you are a serious bluegill fisherman Lake Athens, Bluegill Lakes and Toledo Bend are all good bets.
