Just thinking today, while fishing a bit, about what I know I am really good at and what I know I suck at.....

I first learned to bass fish at 6 yrs old. My dad put an Abu Garcia 5000 combo in my hands and a Texas rigged worm and said get to going boy! Since that day, I ALWAYS have a worm tied on. Sometimes two or three different combos on deck with a weightless t rig, weighted t rig, and a whacky rig. I know that when NOTHING else works, I can flip out a Senko and catch good fish. My second strength is jigs. I have an entire side of my boat loaded with jigs and trailers. Every style, color, trailer, etc.....very versatile baits. Flip em, punch em, drag,hop,and pop em, swim em, and skip em, etc.....

Now....for my worst!!!! Carolina rig is something I just cannot do well. I have tried. I just do not like the setup. I don't like casting it. I don't like the "disconnected" feeling I get using one. Next worst is A rigs. I have a few. I have NEVER, EVER caught a fish on one. Period. To me, it's like chunking my car keys on the end of my line. It's a tangled disaster every time.

Deep cranks fall somewhere in the lower end of average for me and lipless and squares in the upper middle.
Oh.....I also hate spinner baits and chatter baits.

I also have started to get really good at my electronics and using them for drop shot. The drop shot technique, to me, is an art form. To use really light line and gear to get even the most finicky bass to bite is a rush. Landing them on those light lines is skill!!

Deep diving crank baits to lazy to throw them like what you do flip n and pitching my strength also

C rig is becoming my favorite it catches fish

You whack them everywhere steez you can learn how to catch them on the a rig real quick one of my favorite baits aways have one tied on!

For me my worst technique is big swimbaits like zaldain threw today or bigger I just have no confidence in them I try but it kills me knowing I can catch fish way faster on other techniques only way I can even keep in it my hand is if I only bring it and leave everything else at home

And if I had to say any at all my best technique it would have to be just flipping but could always work on it

If I have a Texas rig in my hand I feel like I can catch fish anywhere, anytime. That's definitely what I'm the best at. Carolina rig would probably be 2nd. Really wanting to get better at throwing a jig and deep cranking.

I suck at worm fishing on windy days. I can't feel the line. I avoid it if possible.

I'm great with spinnerbaits and swimming worms.

My best: wacky rig, t-rig, shakey head, spinnerbaits, and shallow to mid cranks.

My worst: a-rig, deep cranks

My biggest frustration: flutter spoons! Tried so many times and I just can't catch a fish on one.

Texas rig is my go to technique.

There are still lots of things I would like to improve on including drop shot and big swim baits.

to me, a jig and a Texas rig bite are pretty similar. If you are good at bottom fishing a worm, then you will get the jig bite down really fast. Like, when you KNOW there is a fish on your t rig by instinct, that is kinda how jig fishing gets. After so many years of fishing by feel, knowing that the bait is doing something out of the ordinary (getting eaten by a bass) becomes second nature.

Like Steez I have never caught anything on an A-rig, swim baits yes. My go to is anything plastic and and slow. I have in the last 5 years seriously started fishing wacky and love it. I hate cranking. Second favorite is jigs. I will do anything to not have to crank. Did I say I hate cranking.

My confidence is in all ways plastic baits (except drop shot). I always have a wacky, t-rig, c-rig and weightless fluke tied on. I've always believed if the fishing is tough, I can try all plastics at some point, somewhere, and never get skunked.
Every once in a while I'll step out of my comfort zone to try the things that I don't have confidence in; starting with a jig. I can't believe I have yet to catch a fish on a jig! It frustrates the hell out of me! Also deep cranks. I sometimes feel like I've got the perfect scenario for a deep diver, but 2 casts afterwards, I immediately feel like I'm in the wrong place. It's weird.

You have to stick with the jig. If you have good catch ratios on a t rig....you should have similar on a jig. Best thing is the jig isn't a substitute for a t rig. It is almost a compliment to it. It can get into tighter spots (most times) and is also a good swimming bait. So it is a quick into the strike zone kinda bait....and when it's past that zone it can be a swimmbait back to the boat. Jig negatives is that they are not always as snag proof as I'd like and they are not weedless in that nasty snotty moss [censored]. Lol. T rigged worms are almost snag proof and snot grass proof. Haha.

So curious why everyone's saying the arig is tough all it is a "giant spinner bait"
