Considering the Diablo Amigo with the priority being able to stand and fish. Primarily fishing flats, marsh and rivers and do not plan on using to paddle long distances, have a Hobie Revo 13 for those long paddles. The Amigo with the wide open deck looks very interesting and have not read any negative reviews. Obviously being a wide boat not going to be the fastest, but that is not important.

Anyone own and have any input on the Diablo Amigo.

You can paddle long distances too. GoodOleG paddles 8 miles on the Brazos with his.

I'm interested in getting an Amigo too. I rented one from ACK and I really liked it. It paddles nice and has a very shallow draft so it doesn't take much to get moving or to stay moving. But it's still not the fastest kayak I've been in.

For small lakes, rivers and the lower coastal bend, it's probably going to be just fine.

If you were fishing the upper coast in the big bays around San Luis pass and Galveston, you might look into another kayak. Some of those bays are pretty open and you may want something faster but I haven't taken into an area like that so I would look around for other experiences under those situations.

Those open bays where I would be covering allot of water would use the Revo 13. I like the Amigo for the clean open deck and option of Larry Chair or using a cooler as a seat. Might have to purchase a longer paddle ( 250-260).

You'll need a 250-260 paddle for sure. When I rented mine I had the BB Angler that would do 240-255cm. Other guys I've talked to had something similar or a 260cm.

How does the Jackson Coosa HD compare to the Diablo Amigo?

As far as paddles are concerned. Ive been paddling a Diablo Amigo and Adios for a long time. With proper paddling stroke, depending on the paddlers height of course, a 240 to 250 should suffice.

I use a 240 with my Adios.

Is that more of a high angle with a 240-250 or what do you recommend for a low angle?

I have an AT Fishstix that's 240cm and I'm really leaning towards the Amigo but if I need to get a new paddle, it's not the end of the world.

Just received my Diablo Amigo. Cannot wait to get it out. Going to keep the rigging minimal. Only will be adding 8" gear tracs. I purchased 250 cm Aqua bound Manta Ray paddle.

What color scheme did you get?

I've seen some really good looking Red Camo ones and there was one at ACK that I wanted to take home so bad. That being said I'll probably go full red.

The other thing I want to see is where the Micro Powerpole can go with the Skeg kit installed. But that's mostly just because I'm curious.

I installed the Skeg kit, I would think you could attach power pole as well with skeg kit.
I got the Camo. Nice blend of light olive and sand. Not overbearing camo scheme you see with some color mods. Could not go with the red Camo( Texas Tech color), my blood bleeds Maroon and white...

Oh, I spent 8.5 of my 11 years of college (I have a Ph.D.) at A&M. I just like the way some of the Red Camo comes out.

Currently the company is working on moving me back to College Station. I'm praying they get it done and hoping that it happens within the year.
