I am looking at storage for my boat that does not have electricity. How do those that store their boats in locations without electricity maintain their batteries? I typically like to just plug in the charger when I am finished until my next outing. Since I won't be able to do this what is the best solution - go through the trouble of removing them and taking them home to charge, or buy an addition set of batteries and swap them out each time? This situation seems like a big inconvenience but I'm interested in how others manage this and if there are other solutions - thanks.

If you have no way to charge them, I would pull them from the boat and charge them at home. Sitting around in a partially charged state is one of the main causes of premature battery death.

exact reason why i just upgraded to enclosed storage with electric hook ups and lights. i got tired of having to bring the boat home to top off the batteries after every trip. removing batteries after every trip is nuttz imo!

He is absolutely correct. The best battery service life results from recharging as soon as possible after any use - even if you didn't use them very much. The only sensible way to store a battery is fully charged. I would never use a storage facility that didn't have power for this reason.
