Can someone explain the main differences of these units. Looks like the Onix more $$$ expensive.

The Helix models are the current versions of the former number series like 700, 800, 900 and 1100.
There is the Helix 5 series, Helix 7 series, Helix 9 series, Helix 10 series, and Helix 12 series.

The ONIX series are the top of the line Humminbird all in one units with more capabilities. There are two versions, one is cross-touch (touch screen and buttons) and the non-touch (just buttons).

There is an ION series also that is modular and is cross-touch.

Refer to the Humminbird website for the specs for each model.

The Helix 12 is the replacement for the 1100 series. There is a SI, DI, and 2D version just like the 1100 series in the same price range. They use the same parts and do the same thing the same way as the 11X9 models.

Yes they will communicate via Ethernet and cross-share sonar technologies just like the XX9 models do each other and between Helix and number series Ethernet units.

The Helix 9, 10 and 12 series are Ethernet capable and the Helix 5 and 7 series are not.

The Helix 10 replaced the 900 series. Helix 9 replaced the 800 series, etc.

The Helix models have brighter displays and the Helix 9, 10, and 12 have built-in Auto Chart Live.

edited: forgot to mention that the Helix 12 models have built-in CHIRP 2D sonar.

I am currently running HB 1199 at the bow and 1198 at the console linked with ethernet cable. However I am considering upgrading these units on at time in the future.
Appreciate the info.

One more thing, the Helix 12 has more than double the pixels per square inch of the 1100 series.

The Helix 10 has about 6,000 more pixels per square inch than the 1100 series.
