Left the house at 7:00am Saturday Morning, its a 20 minute drive to Powell and the old Corsicana Lake ramp. I tried catching some shad with my throw net with very little luck, so I paddled thru the access into one of the channels, by the time I was in sight of Chambers Creek I had 10 white bass in the boat but had lost the school. Just as I entered Chambers Creek I found them again...Action was fast. At one point I had unhooked a small one, dropped the lure over the side of the yak and had to grab the rod, had another one on. Ended up with a limit but had caught and released at least that many more...still using the same soft lure on a road runner jig spin. What a morning. Back to the house by 10:30am.
Chambers creek crosses US 31 just east of Corsicana and flows into the the North end of Richland Chambers Lake. There are 2 channels, lots of water to fish without a lot of traffic. Plan was to do a little paddling, catfishing and relax. No cats but lots of White Bass.

Congratulations on a good catch! To all that may go to this area be cautious of what power boats do come threw when the water level allows for it! They usually get up on plane just out from boat ramp and stay on plane threw all the shallows out to the main body of water so that means there is 2 blind turns that they fly threw and is not a good place for a person in a kayak to be. Defiantly go and have fun but be cautious in this area till you are in open water. If you here them coming hit the side and hold on cause they are not going to see you till its to late and some areas are tight threw there. I've fished this area since the lake opened so I know what I'm talking about and don't want to see anyone get hurt..

Boat ramp. Google Map. Powell Texas. Going east on hiway 31 from Corsicana. Just as you get into the town limits you will see road 0080 on the right, cross over the railroad tracks, follow the road west until it dead ends at the ramp. Today, 4-23-16, Chambers creek is out of the banks, channels should be ok but I would stay out of the creek, it would be a fast trip to the log jam down stream and then not so much fun..Good luck and enjoy.
