Maybe it’s because …

- I’m just a few years from retirement, likely to a place on Cedar Creek, or
- I can’t understand why the cost of literally everything boat-electronics related is so high (a simple 15-foot Lowrance Ethernet cable: $50?), or
- I’ve lately lost so much tackle chasing spawning crappie in the heavy brush!

But whatever it is, I find myself becoming obsessed with saving $$ on fishing supplies lately. I’m scouring websites for the best prices on everything from jigheads to slip bobbers. AND … I’m thinking outside box, so to speak. A couple examples:

I bought 100 1.5” lighted bobber sticks (20 packs of 5, with connectors) online for $28. They’re 4 sticks for $2.69 at Bass Pro, so $67.

Today I picked up this pack of crafting beads (I like the small ones for crappie fishing) for $3. Don’t know how many there are because they come by weight (2.3 oz). At Bass Pro they’re $2.29 for 160. This bag has at least 10 times that many.

Not sure I’ll do it, but I even watched a couple YouTube videos on some clever ways to make your own slip bobbers wink

All of this is nickel and dime stuff, and yes, it adds up … but I’d still love to find ways to save on the bigger stuff.

I'm 20 years from retirement and still look for the best deals I think I can find. Guess that why I have a 1990 model boat. It all has to do with amount of "disposable income", not that I ever had any, and how bad you want/need it.

The title of this thread is an oxymoron.
Kinda like jumbo shrimp...

Where did you get your lighted bobber sticks?
