I've been doing a lot of research on sunglasses over the last couple months and I finally narrowed my search to the exact frame from Costa I wanted; or so I thought. I went to an Apex store to make the purchase and as I was browsing I saw the KVD logo and naturally, it caught my attention instantly. As I started messing with them I read the sticker that said "Shallow Water" on it. So, I started asking the young gal who worked there about them and she explained to me that they are Oakley Prizm lenses. She told me you can get them in shallow water and deep water lenses.

Being that I'm prior military, I'm a little partial to Oakley. However, I wanted to see if anyone has worn the Prizm shallow water lenses while fishing. The clarity looked great. I didn't buy the Costas because I wanted to see what the reviews were on the Oakleys. The only thing I've found that I question about them compared to the Costas is the Oakley lenses is gray tint based instead of copper.

You aren't getting much in responses in this section. There have been many sunglass discussions in the bass section and you'll get more input there. From what I have read on it, it seems like the Costas are generally thought of as being the best quality lenses. The Oakleys, further down the list with several other brands more highly regarded in fishing glasses.

Thanks for the input. I ended up ordering both so I'll probably post my findings regarding the two when they arrive. I'll make sure I put it in the bass section!

I switched from Oakley to Costa last year and never looked back. I just thought I was getting quality from Oakley. I used to buy a new pair every year, but this year my Costas don't have enough scratches on them to justify another pair so I'll keep rocking these and see how many years I can get out of them.

I quit wearing oakleys 7 years ago when I bought my first and so far only pair of Costa's. 580G lenses in Amber are imo best I've ever worn for shallow water. They are heavy, but the lenses are real glass. They don't scratch like the plastics. Costa also stands behind there product from what I'm told, I've yet to need to send mine in though.

I have Oakleys with the shallow water lens. Not worth the money, imo. I have a pair of S11's that are far superior for sight fishing. That's just my opinion.
