Since I cannot find any Redear on Dunlap or anywhere else on the Guadalupe River I went looking else where. Several community lakes and some local creeks paid off! Caught good numbers and good quality Redear before and after this last rain event. Had a very good day yesterday(Wednesday). Water conditions have cleared up on the smaller lakes and creeks. Banks are extremely muddy and slippery. The bite was good on the days I went out. Fish were holding in 4 to 6 feet of water on the lakes and were in 3 to 4 feet of water in the creeks. All fish were caught using a float. Worms were the bait of choice. Also caught some nice Bluegill and a few nice bass. All fish were released to fight again. Finding a bunch of nice Redear. It just don't get any better! fish

Awesome pic of that one coming out of the water, cricket hook stuck in the roof of his mouth giving you the evil eye.

I love Redears too Banker. Last summer, there were days when Redears were 95% of my catch. This year, I have not caught one yet. I wonder if they come up a little later in Spring than Bluegill. Do you know?

Thanks fish 'till i drop for the reply. cheers Bluegill,Redear and the rest of the sunfish seem to have the same basic patterns. eeks I usually catch my biggest Redear during the winter and the biggest Bluegill during the spring. hooked I have also caught some super Redear during the summer and fall. coolio This past year the Guadalupe has been slow as far as the Redear go. hide2 I think last years flooding played a huge part in their patterns. hmmm

Very Nice Banker. Redear have some cool colors as do most Sunfish. I like to compare different colors from different regions of the same species. It's amazing the difference, Longear seem to have the most difference.

Good job, Chuck. Redear seem to have disappeared from the North Texas lakes. Glad you are still able to find them.

I caught quite a few with a few nice'uns recently out of the river in FW....
I was told that was unusual by one of the long time river fisherman as he's never caught any until fishing this particular stretch of the river....
They are great fighters for their size & I heartily they are great eating....
I like targeting a particular species on fishn trips & there will be a few upcoming redear trips for sure after researching some of the non-toxic lakes that have them....
Nicely done BAF.....
